The Mojo Mindset

Uncle KG in da Hizzzz

Outside of the band I have very few close friends. In this installment of the Mojo Mindset podcast, I am joined by one of those close friends, Kerry Gilbert. Kerry recently visited Chateau LeDuke and we spent a couple of quality days training, eating, male bonding and yes, recording this podcast. Kerry used his years of experience working in the field of public relations to conduct this informal interview with me and to occasionally make me feel better by laughing at my jokes. So sit back and enjoy another episode of the Duke’s mindless gibberish and incoherent ramblings.

For over 80 minutes, the guys focus their discussion on the Rising World Tour. Over a year on the road, in the States and in Europe, the good, the bad, and the Super Ugly. Hear what it was like to quit your job, put all of your stuff in storage and go on the road as a crew memeber for Stuck Mojo. Highlights include car wrecks, touring with Pantera and what it takes to be an opening band that is kicked off a Mojo tour.

Get Right with the Lord

Posted in General by Breaker on the July 30th, 2007

Rich, Mike, Rodney and Lord Nelson sit down to shoot the breeze. Lord gives us a tour of his childhood and family life, including a story about how he was schooled in the ways of hip-hop through his brother’s friendship with the late Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay. Lord reminisces about the first time he saw Stuck Mojo and discusses the events that led up to him becoming the band’s front-man.

Rich asks Lord why more rock band don’t write songs about girls with big asses. The guys talk about Mike’s role in the band as the new guitar player and why they waited 15 years to become a five piece.  A few minutes are spent discussing life on the road, including how unfortunately easy it is to get your drugs and chicks for free and why Rodney wears his ipod every waking minute of the day.

Distribution Deals Set for “Southern Born Killers”

Posted in General by The Duke on the July 26th, 2007

We are happy to announce that in support the upcoming fall tour, we have reached agreements with several distributors to import copies of the new Stuck Mojo album, Southern Born Killers. As of today, it is now available at HMV stores throughout the UK via Cargo Records UK, all throughout Germany via Just For Kicks Music and in Japan through RB Records Japan. These copies were manufactured and shipped by the band and include the bonus DVD featuring the Open Season video.

To continue our mission of staying completely independent artists, the above companies have paid Stuck Mojo in advance for these copies and by purchasing from them in your local music store, you can be sure that you will be directly supporting the artists (Stuck Mojo) who created and recorded the music.

In the future, there will be more announcements about the availability of Southern Born Killers in cd stores all around the world. Thanks for continuing to support us in our attempt to bring you music without compromise.

Respectfully, Rich Ward

The guys take a minute to answer some fan email questions and segues into a discussion on the current state of music and the music industry. Mike and Rich discuss how to get a great guitar tone. Finally, Rich vents about how the Dutch label Sonic Rendezvous, that he signed a 2 year licensing deal for Sick Speed with, continues to sell his music years after the agreement has ended and still has never been paid for the thousands of records that have been sold.
